I don't recognise 2010.2 as a new release, it's a revamped 2010.1 AFAICS.

You thought wrongly; we've always followed the development branch of
wine (in both mdv and mga).

"You" put it in the errata to begin with, so remove it if you think
it's not useful any more.

IMHO, either users upgrade the host to 4.0.x or use the upstream .iso
to install the guest additions (the upstream .iso would compile the
necessary modules for all recent and old X server versions.. etc).
