I was under the impression talking to ennael on IRC a few weeks ago that this was already going to happen.

totem is not needed and is the first thing I uninstall on new installations as well.  If you need FF plugins, gecko-mediaplayer should have 
you covered.  If you need a video player, kmplayer, dragon player, or VLC do the job (I'm not sure which was decided to use by default in KDE 
Mageia, that's where the discussion with ennael left off).
