Actually this can't be a fundamental issue as it works on the tty. I'm
guessing that somewhere along the way gdm is pulling in the old udev
library (can't see it immediately but I wouldn't be surprised) and this
then causes problems with pam_mount which uses libdevmapper which uses
the new libudev.
Therefore, I'd hope this is just a product of me not rebuilding
everything under the sun for new udev...
That's my current guess... :)
