Yes, it would be nice to include it and I wish to try the new Gimp as soon as 
possible but we are in a frozen state.

Can we answer to these questions:
- What are the hidden dependencies?
- What are the risks?
- What are the new bugs ?

IMO, the safer way is to put the new release as an alternate choice but not
as default - perhaps in Backport Testing?
