Just a side note regarding this problem.
Some mirrors provide rsync access, so with the --partial option you can 
continue a download and rsync make sure all parts of the file are correct.
For example at distrib-coffee
rsync://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/mandrivalinux/official/iso/
