Mandriva (openSuSE, ...) also feed the Fedora database with infos:
http://smolt.fedoraproject.org/

Maybe we should conentrate on that, because we get with relative small 
efforts quite good results. The /etc/redhat-release seems to be for the 
smolt database I guess?!
