Technical terminology may be faulty. I have a 64 bit CPU with 4 1 Gig 
memory cards. I use the 32 bit version of Mageia with the desktop 
kernel. I use KDE as my desktop. I have 8 windows that usually have 
programs open in them. I think with the first install iscan with Gimp 
overloaded the taskbar. Every time I scanned a photo a new window would 
open until eventually there would be no text. Only small icons. The 
program would then go into a reboot that froze. With the second install 
I was in Thunderbird both times. It just froze. No attempt to reboot. 
However gimp was open. Not sure about iscan.  The computer runs 24 hrs a 
day.
