My experience with any software being VMware (ESXi/Workstation/Fusion) compatible comes down to three things:
1) Already compiled modules for distribution's kernels
2) VMware-tools/utils available from repositories
3) VMware-tools/utils integration to distribution's normal tools (like mcc)

What Mageia can do is to make 2 and 3 easy for users and good instructions for 1. "Certified" products integrate also 1 but this is not in my opinion necessary as long as there is good quality instructions. 2 and 3 are not ok since there is much need for making it more user friendly. Anyway, if you're skilled Mageia user none of the above will be a problem.
