I mount my music from NFS and use autofs to do it.  The options I use 
below (I'm running on a gigabit network):

Music 
-fstype=nfs,rsize=2097152,wsize=2097152,hard,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=2,sec=sys,intr,nfsvers=3,actimeo=0


You may want to add the proto=tcp or nfsvers=3 or both to your fstab
