no offense, but if you'd split it up, you'd have to go for:

"Ma-ge-yah"

as a belgian, i pronounce it different again, i think, even though similar to 
your pronounciation:

the g is the one you use in 'gear'

but the 'e' sounds is more like in 'geisha'.
