I "bought" the mp3 codec for simplicity, some time ago. If this could
cause problems it should be possible to remove it.

Duh! How did I miss the repo disablement? No wonder I couldn't find

Never tried that. I like the simplicity, just-works, of grip - I've
used it for years. Maybe it's time to try something new :-)
