What about dependencies?  For example, people have complained about
being given all the printer drivers under the sun.  Having access to
the SRPMs would allow that to be tailored, I suppose.  I tried Gentoo
derivatives recently and had all kinds of problems.  It needs more
theoretical background than I have.
