Thanks for the info about the shut down button :), I didn't no idea 
about that.  Just did a quick Google  search and this came up:

Also earlier this year I sent a email to the Mageia Dev mailing list, 
trying to get the shut down button by default in Gnome Shell in Mageia 2.
