i've ran sysbench, but there were no notable differences between the two of 
them without any tuning done, just as default.

i've also ran mysql-bench and mariadb-bench but there i noticed that insert 
and insert_key tests seem to have a lot less load for the same number of 
tests... (like mysql being 8x slower)

looking at the internet there are lot of benchmarks available as well...
