If really needed i can dig up some analysis about overall worldwide
traffic in relation to bittorrent, but i can already tell you that
mostly on any day some of the time bittorrent creates 50-60%
of worldwide traffic.

So better not increase this, and i think it would also not be very
practical for the tracker, which would need to keep at some point
say 500.000 torrents (for every package in the distribution,
including multiple archs, debug packages and so on)
And then lets multiply this with three for three releases ...?

No, i'm against it. I don't see what's wrong with the current system
as it is working well for those who configure it properly.
