[Mageia-dev] Strange behaviour - installed package doesn't show when doing a 'rpm -qa' search??

That's perfectly normal, rpm -qa only display installed physical 
packages (libxdamage1 here), whereas libXdamage1 is a virtual package 
provided by this last one. Just try:
rpm -q libxdamage1
