[Mageia-dev] Strange behaviour - installed package doesn't show when doing a 'rpm -qa' search??

You probably mean:

rpm -q libXdamage1 != rpm -q libxdamage1

Or also, what does say:
rpm -qa | grep -i libXdamage1
