It can be a fine line at times I agree, but I think as these are updates
to the stable branch version upstream and add extra h/w support, I'd
personally suggest that updates makes more sense in this case.

Seems a few people are generally in favour of this. I'll push updates to
the testing area and ask for feedback on the bug. If it helps the users
then we can ask for a regression check from people via -discuss. Make sense?
