Well in fact i probably misread the gitweb & the 0.3 branch is indeed
tagged in libkgoogle but not in akonadi-google :p
So i don't know if we'll find an update (not to mention that 4.9 is on the way)

Well google calendar support caldav since a long time, there was
simply not native support for caldav in akonadi for kdepim 4.x.
So akonadi-googledata & later akonadi-google simply provides an answer
for calendar/contacts support in kde.
Also end users might not be able to configure « easily » the caldav
agent while it's easy to enter your login/passwd for this instead of
adding the « long url » & especially do not forget the "/" .
One more thing is that i'm not sure you have access to « non local »
calendar via caldav (it's possible via akonadi-google).

Just a question, which arch are you using ?
I just build (not tested so far, while do it probably tonight) a i586
package for mga2 with the git patch mentionned in the kde bug report
(it should be attached to this mail so you can rebuild the 0.3.1 for
x86_64 for example).

No idea :p
