Hello,

Bug 1726 (https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1726) asks for
ntfs-config to be added to the Mageia packages. ntfs-config requires
hal to access removable media and, at least on my test machine, fails to
run without hal installed. ntfs-config does seem to have some support,
a patch was added 20 weeks ago.

ntfs-config doesn't seem to add anything new, just make it a little
easier to mount an control access to ntfs partitions

I know hal should now be obsolete and is not installed by default in
Mageia 2, but we do have hal packages.

Would it be safe to install hal on a machine running Mageia 2 (Cauldron)?

Do we plan on supporting hal long term?

Any thoughts?
