A friend of mine did that once, when he was visiting me for a week and was remotely working on his home computer some years ago.
One day he asked me why his images went away when he moved them.
I asked him what command he used, thinking he used the wrong argument in the command.
He responded: "I only ran «rm -f folder1/ folder2/»" Then he was quited for some 5 seconds, and uttered: "Aaah..."

We still smile at that episode when we meet. :-)=
After that episode he started reading the commands he type, especially before moving or deleting files. It has saved him from shutting down our server at least once. :-)=
