If your only goal is to test the stable functioning of the system then
you can just keep updating, no need to download the new ISO.

But the purpose of such Alpha versions is not only to test the running
system. it is also to test the installer, the new graphics, etc. This
can only be done with a fresh install.
Another option to test is the system upgrade from Mandriva 2010.2 to
Mageia, the system upgrade from a running Mageia Alpha1 to Alpha2
using the ISO.

So, it depends on what you want to test.
