Well, I tried the mga2b3 GNOME iso on the X51 and got nowhere. As my 
later post indicates the display is now working properly with mga1.  The 
live CD however has no idea how to drive the nVidia card and produces a 
display which is unuseable.  This should be the subject of another 
thread so I shall follow up later.  Meanwhile maybe a test on my 
production machine.
