That sounds to be exactly what I have already done.  Anyway -


According to MCC - 192.168.0.20, managed by users and starting at boot.
According to ifconfig - 169.254.100.1 - the same subnet as the NAS's
setup. However, when I use the web interface to connect to the NAS it
uses 192.168.0.200.

I did enable NetworkManager when I put the config back, but when I
found it was still showing the "wrong"  address I turned it off again
so that I could ifup and ifdown.

The manually constructed config, eth0:temp, is renamed to
eth0.temp.sav - and the config file is set to not start at boot.

I can't think of anything else to tell you.
