I just did a clean install of Beta 3 (or so it says) on this old laptop 
without a single problem. Previous Mageia versions required manual 
configuration of the ATI driver. I just enabled the Tainted and Nonfree 
repositories and the installer took care of everything. The installer 
still doesn't recognize my BCM4318 chip (other installers recognize it), 
but after I installed the b43-* packages I was able to configure it 
using MCC. Overall a nice improvement over mga2.
