Hi

On the 30th March someone started emailing the LUG mailing list that I
am on, about an event for the local IT and business community that will
be at one of the universities here. The idea of the event is so that
the Computer Science department can build up a closer connection with
the local IT and business community.

It's a event for IT related people such as, developers, web designers,
business users, hobbyists, DBAs, and SysAdmins.

The event is a workshop where groups can promote them selves, with side
rooms available as well.

There were replies on the mailing list and I replied as well. I told him
how I am contributing to Mageia and wanted to build up more interest in
the project in the local community and so on.

After sending him my requested phone number and then whilst earlier
talking to him on the phone it was suggested that I did a Lightning talk
about Mageia.

If I am to do this it will be in front of about 100 people it seems,
that are university staff and students and people from the local IT and
business community.

I may have not done a talk before in front of such a big audience, but I
did do a talk about Tim Berners-Lee, and web standards in front of one
of my college classes, in 2005/6. So I am not that worried that it will
be in front of a lot of people. In fact I quite like the idea of doing a
talk in front of a lot of people :).

I think it would be a very good opportunity and experience for me to go
to this event and also whilst there to do a Lightning Talk about Mageia.
So if anyone would like to help me prepare for this talk, please do so.

Oliver told me that he has some slides for a talk he did before that he
can send me.

At this time I don't know when it will be exactly. I have time to think
about if I am going to do the talk or not, but I'll probably get back to
him soon to say that I will do it.
