It was, and very much so. Before having a kcharselect binary in kdeutils, it had prepared especially for that purpose a kcharselect widget as part of kdeui, in kdelibs. Amazing contournement...

On the contrary, the idea is not to avoid fixing the bugs, but to face the issues, identify them, and pinpoint the root cause.
