Misc,

I am not much time but to bring forward that proposal to our BitTorrent
server.

I've been researching and found that the Fedora Project use the version
4.4.0-5 of the original bittorrent, which is discontinued for some time. It
would be great if someone more of an opinion. I think the btpd a good option
.

Although we have not a bittorrent server running, I'll prepare a version
torrent Alpha2 and share. Well I'll spread the torrent to reach a good
amount of users.

I am forming a small team of seeders. Longer count on the help of two
Brazilians.

I prepared a short text to be posted on the blog. I hope it is approved and
posted.

Mageia and BitTorrent, side by side.

When we released the first alpha version of mageia, many users ask about the possibility of downloading the ISO via BitTorrent (BT).

BitTorrent is a transfer protocol very interesting. Basically, it creates a download network peer-to-peer allowing files to be downloaded at high speed (often more than other protocols are able). It is a method very reliable and highly recommended for download large files.

The use of BT, to share the upcoming releases of mageia, is a natural way, and we will follow. Besides all the benefits brought by good features present in this protocol, we'll still benefit more, considering that the burden of bandwidth usage is distributed among users who are downloading the ISO, so no there will be a elevate in the use of bandwidth our server.

Although we have not a server bt prepared for this task, the version Alpha2's mageia will also be available on torrent, on our page download the Alpha version.

Soon our BT server will be ready, but right now we are forming a seeders team of the first level. If you are interested to help us, please contact us. We do not require more than a little of your bandwidth.

The Alpha2 is coming! Follow our calendar and stay tuned!
