It was a very simple system:

1. Get a commit access to svn (from sysadmin backed by recommendation
of the language's coordinator)
2. Download the po file, translate it, commit it.

It was easy to implement a "reviewing" or "proofreading" stage in a
mailing list or forum or whatever.

For Mageia we are discussing the same way, making the "reviewing"
stage a must have and reducing the "committers" to only 2 of each
language.
The other option is using a collaboration tool (transifex).

Oliver and Marianne (from the French team) will write a short summup
of transifex in the Mageia wiki before next meeting.
